Personally I don't really like the 'fact' you make about dragons not being able to retract their claws. Cats can. They also walk on their toes. And who says that dragons HAVE to follow a couple rules that reptiles have that can be changed without ruining it? They can also have paw pads, as those are basically just thick skin.
